the history of assumer and barack obama and durbin is always politics. president didn't fully embrace what the bipartisan group of senators said. why am i suspicious? every time he has an opportunity to exploit it, he does so politically. do you this agree with me, that republicans need to proceed with caution? >> absolutely. there are so many complicated parts to this. even if you had trust with all the partners, you would want to pay a lot of attention to detail. look, the president -- you touched on it earlier. there was an unnecessary threat out of the blue. i was reading the text to the speech, he was outlining what he was sort of proposing which was somewhat in agreement and out of the blue he says if you are unable to move in a timely fashion, i'm going to set up a bill on my proposal and insist that you vote it on. that is typical stuff we see from the white house that is completely unconstructive and undermines trust in the white house. >> sean: two reasons i would like to see a bill happen here. number one, nobody seems to be talking about it,

obama is sitting high, though he got whacked by the federal court today but i think democrats can be pretty stupid, too. if they reject entitlement reform, if they say we're just going to raise taxes like this budget deal, just taxes and no spending, if they don't deal with federal debt and they don't deal with the economic growth problem, then the democrats are going to be stupid and they're going to give away what advantage they have now. >> charlie cook wrote a really great column today about this issue in 2016 it will still be about the economy, stupid, right? here's the problem. the republicans, you just said bill clinton and ronald reagan. i appreciate that. you also described a dead white man and a nearly dead white man. the republican party has got to get off this issue of only appealing to white men and women over 50. the country is changing and it's changing rapidly. >> in fairness we're having a conversation about bobby jindal -- >> but you dismissed him as a serious presidential candidate. >> i didn't dismiss him. i said his tactic was different than someone from marco ru

and one way to do that is by addressing comprehensive immigration reform. there's going to be a pretty big sticking point on what you do with the 11 million who are already here illegally. president obama's laid out a path to citizenship where they'd pay fines and back taxes, et cetera. a lot of republicans might object to that. but if i could i'd like to go back to something chris said about these steep spending cuts. i've spoken to a lot of people who really are familiar with the nuts and bolts of the budget and how actual lit money gets spent. they say that with the caps that are in place right now, with inflation cutting into those and with population growth, the only way you can really cut spending is p by doing things like firing people at the fbi. because veteran spending is going to increase automatically. president obama wants to spend more on education. that's tough. so these cuts go into effect, but they might find very quickly that it's very difficult to actually implement them. >> last thing here to you, chris, we're hearing about a couple of s
